Norwegian Storytellers: Tales from the Arctic Circle
Saturday, September 20, 2008, Doors at 7pm, program at 8pm
Norwegian visiting artists Stina Fagertun and Anita Barth-Jørgensen present an evening of traditional tales and music from the Scandinavian Arctic. Fagertun and Barth-Jørgensen are teachers, musicians and storytellers who blend little-known fairytales, especially from the Sami and Kven people of northern Norway, with traditional arctic music and songs to create programs that express their love for the far north.
Meet the artists at 7pm on September 20th (beer and wine by the glass available for purchase) followed by the performance at 8pm. Maren Hinderlie, a Scandinavian storyteller from Minneapolis, will tell a story or two and introduce the visiting international artists. Suggested donation at the door of $10, $5 for students.

EXHIBITION : “MIDGE BOLT - AROUND AND ABOUT PEPIN COUNTY”
On View Through September 28
The Lake Pepin Art & Design Center celebrates the 150th birthday of Pepin County with an exhibit of new works and private commissions by photographer Midge Bolt titled "Around and About Pepin County" at the Lake Pepin Art & Design Center.
Midge will showcase privately commissioned Time & Again works from around Pepin County, each accompanied by its own story. Midge will also premiere a new work that adds another dimension to her signature Time & Again series.
A Time & Again image is a telescoped view of a single place at two moments in time. A historic black & white photo, printed on sheer silk, hangs like a scrim in front of the present-day photo on cotton, allowing a look at today through the lens of yesterday. Artist website: www.boltimaging.com
